Dr. Candice Howarth is a Senior Research Fellow at the Global Sustainability Institute at Anglia Ruskin University (UK) and leads the Climate Action and Cultural Systems research theme. Her research focuses on the co-production of climate knowledge and climate action, engagement, and communication as well as challenges and opportunities within the science-policy interface. She was seconded to the International Climate Change Directorate in the Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) from September 2013 to November 2014 leading on stakeholder engagement and climate communication. Dr. Howarth is an Honorary Research Associate of the UCL Faculty of Science and Technology Studies, she is a member of UCL’s Policy Commission on Communicating Climate Science, she sits on the Advisory Board for the Responsible Research and Innovation EU project, and is a trustee of the environmental behavior change charity Global Action Plan. She is also a Committee Member of the British Sociological Associate Climate Change Study Group and a member of the Editorial Board of the journal Environmental Communication. She has a PhD in climate change communication and behavior change (University of Southampton), an MSc in Climate Change (University of East Anglia), and a BSc in Meteorology (University of Reading).
